ERM Glossary: Banking
book
[this page | pdf | references | back links]
The banking book of a bank is not defined as such in the
EU’s Capital
Requirements Directive and Capital
Requirements Regulation. Instead, it can be derived as the part of the bank’s
overall book of exposures that is not part of its trading book. Please
note that within the banking book may be positions that fall within the scope
of ‘available for sale’ and the regulatory treatment of such exposures can
differ from other exposures in the banking book.
