Puccia, M. (2007)The Role of ERM in Ratingshere

Summary (paraphrase)

"These slides describe a framework that S&P has developed to evaluate ERM practices. S&P views risk management as being at the heart of what S&P does since S&P assesses institutions’ risks and how risks are managed. The framework aims to systematically evaluate firms’ ERM practices to incorporate into ratings:
Institutions with robust processes that are well integrated into enterprise’s functions would be scored highly,
Institutions with weaker risk management capabilities, or poorly integrated risk management would be incorporated into the ratings as well
S&P believe that their approach offers a meaningful, more objective input into the evaluation of an institutions’ risk tolerances than the current more qualitative analysis"
